ON THE THRESHOLD

Workshop at Studio Bleu Paris
> directed by Luca Giacomoni

There is a precise moment, almost elusive, when something begins to happen: neither entirely intended nor completely uncontrollable. A moment of transition, in which the actor stands on the threshold — between inside and outside, between what acts and what is acted upon, between reality and metaphor. It is this place of passage that the workshop sets out to traverse. The work unfolds in the wake of Jerzy Grotowski’s research, for whom physical actions belonged to a process of exploration rather than to a method. Action is understood here as a concrete and precise act, capable of setting in motion organic processes that go beyond mere will.

The aim is not to express an inner state, but to create the conditions in which the human being can appear to themselves and under the gaze of the other. The stage thus becomes a space of experimentation, where attention is given to transitions and resistances, where something authentic can emerge. This workshop is intended for actors, but also for participants from other fields — social sciences, psychotherapy, performance arts — for whom questions of presence, embodiment, and the relationship between the visible and the invisible are central. To inhabit this in-between is to accept a fertile zone of instability, where rigor opens onto the unknown, and where experience precedes interpretation.

ANTIGONE’S GESTURE

Workshop at Gare aux Artistes
> directed by Luca Giacomoni

This work continues my current research on Antigone by Sophocles, with a production planned for autumn 2026. Theatre is approached here as a space of engagement, where actions have tangible, real consequences. At its origin is a gesture: a young woman, faced with the law of men, chooses to follow an older law, connected to the earth and the dead. Antigone takes a handful of dust and places it on her brother’s body, killed in battle. This act does not argue; it decides. Both unnecessary and necessary, it challenges the established order and inscribes irreversibility into the world.

The workshop aims to approach this foundational gesture not as a symbol, but as a real, concrete, committed action. What forms could it take today on a theatre stage? Through physical and vocal work, participants will explore a state of intensity where action is nothing but itself. To act is already to expose oneself, to be seen. The workshop is open to those who see the performing arts as a space of active, restless presence, a place of resistance — a concrete testing of the living.
